As if the Desert Botanical Garden wasn’t already beautiful! Erin and Matthew dropped in from Chicago for the long Thanksgiving weekend, and made it EVEN BETTER!!
I’ll never forget the first time I spoke with Erin. I was actually at Chicago O’hare getting ready to head back to Phoenix. Erin explained that she was getting married in Chicago, but wanted her engagement session in Phoenix. It was like it was meant to be!! We setup a time to video chat later that week, and it was then that she made me cry.
I love a good engagement story, but this is the first time one has made me emotional. While I’ll admit I cry at EVERY SINGLE wedding – I really am not a softie! I swear it takes a LOT to make me tear up.
As Erin told me how Matthew proposed I realized that he was ready to commit to her long before a proposal. That in itself is magical. I’ve placed their proposal video HERE. It can be hard to hear at times, but here is the story guys…
Matthew took Erin, and both their families to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. It is there that he decided to propose with a letter from former President Barack Obama congratulating them on their recent engagement at the Museum. A letter that Matthew not only kept with him for almost a year before proposing, but that cited the actual location he proposed at. For a frame of reference, the museum also opened 09/26/16. It’s right around learning the timing involved that I started to ball, because AHHH!! That’s about as romantic as it gets guys! You can read the full letter at the end of the video.
All the planning behind starting their lives together is what makes me even more excited to be a part of their big day next year! Erin & Matthew, I hope you love the photos and I can not WAIT for next year ❤️????
