The summer has passed, and I’m left wondering where it went!? Even with many months of us being quarantined, or in general many places were and still are still not open like they normally would be – how even with all of that, did the year fly by at an even faster pace?!?
It is mind boggling!
One great opportunity came out of all the chaos, at least for me and my family. We spent the first part of August camping our way from Phoenix to Chicago. We also started virtual learning while on the road. The kids’ first day of virtual learning was in Utah! It wasn’t *not* weird, but BOY was it worth it.
It took us about a week to get to Chicago, with strong persuasion from Gordon for me to ever even leave Colorado. Because, I mean… It’s Colorado!!
Once we were in Illinois, we decided to stay for an entire month. Never would we normally have the opportunity to travel to so many cities/states, and then spend a whole month in Chicago. That in-it-of itself was an enlightening experience for us and for our littles. One that I will always treasure.
Between quarantines, and postponements much of our normal early summer work in Chicago had been pushed back. But with the world slowly starting to emerge from their homes, we decided to pack as much as we possibly could into our August trip.
Nicole, and Scott’s engagement session was one of those! We were originally supposed to have their engagement session some time around May. May turned into a possible June, then July and finally we made it happen in August.
It was perfection. First of all, I know Scott from JUNIOR HIGH!! What?! Yes!! So, getting to see how much his life has evolved and getting to meet his beautiful fiancé, was just downright COOL!
Sometimes there are not words better than the simplest. COOL, is that word for me in regards to this moment.
Scott and Nicole have a membership to the Morton Arboretum, which I don’t think I’ve been to since I was a child. And like true kids in a candy shop, we went to all their favorite spots and captured there love 🙂
The result was simply stunning!
