Mackenzie and Roy’s Journeyman Distillery wedding, in Michigan is hitting the blog today a little late. But all good things are worth the wait, if you ask me! And this one is a doozy!
2020 was, as we all know, the most insane year in the history of all our lives! I think out of all the things that many of us were not able to agree on in 2020, we can all agree on this!
March 14th, 2020 was our last wedding before the entire country, or at least the states that directly affect me – went into complete lockdown.
2020 was so many things, and I know I’ve talked about it before in other posts, but most of all it was depressing. It took the creative juice, and sucked it right out of me. Talking to couples almost daily throughout the remainder of March about what their plans would look like for the future was not enjoyable for each of them, I know! And on my end, I felt like a filter of emotions. Trying so hard, each time to ensure everything was going to be OK. Realistically knowing, there was no way I could even say that and mean it.
That’s a disheartening place to be at. When your career relies on planning for the future, and usually a year or more out – It became immediately clear that this was going to affect us much further down the road. Oh, and it has! Hence my supreme delay in blogging. Putting out fires took, and continues to take president, for sure!
I have to include these emotions on lovely Mackenzie, and Roy’s post because whatever fraction of 2020 I was feeling – I know they were feeling it too. We all were, and on so many levels – many not even the same. Which of course, only added to our frustrations that were the year 2020!
So, here I am in the year 2021, and I know it won’t be sunshine and rainbows. I mean, the first week proved that! But, I have hope and I’m so excited to face this new year filled with new promise with all of you.
Kicking off this year, I need to highlight this wedding from August. We drove from Arizona to Illinois for this wedding (and a slew of other backed up Illinois events). But Jen, you said it was in Michigan?! Well, yea but less than 2 hours from where our family lives, and where we stay in Illinois!
We took an entire month off to camp our way across the county with our children. That is going to need to be a separate post for another day, because its absolutely worthy of it!
This wedding, however, was delayed from May of 2020 and as I mentioned was on a list of postponed weddings. The difference here, was that Mackenzie and Roy’s was the FIRST for us since March 14th!!
My excitement for this wedding was SO REAL!!
There were definite changes that had to be made due to covid – guest count, and reception location within the venue. I know these are things that can taint the specialness of the day, but THEY DID NOT!!
It was beautiful, and fun and filled with love and gratefulness by all who attended. I am certain that is all reflected repeatedly in their album too! So enjoy these photos, and thank you for stopping by 🙂
Also, Mackeznie’s facial expressions are everything! 💕
